United see off Stoke City

David Moyes side triumphed into the semi finals of the Capital One Cup after defeating Stoke City 2-0 on Wednesday night.

Ashley Young returned to the goals after 17 months with an wonder-goal and provided the assist for Evra's goal to put United into the semis.

United were without Van Persie and Wayne Rooney, absentees through injury while Giggs and Januzaj were left out of the match day squad.

The weather made it frustrating for both teams to make any meaningful contribution to the game as strong winds caused the game to be halted for 10 minutes before play continued.

Things didn't get any better still as both sides struggled to maintain possession but United were the better side after the the interval and got their reward in the 62nd minute as Young scored a beauty from outside the area.

Later in the 78th minute Evra put United to goals to the good to tarnish any hope of a Stoke comeback, scoring a spectacular goal in his own right.
